William Eugene Rutledge graduated from the University of Alabama in 1960. In 1963, he graduated from The University of Alabama School of Law. He received his M. A. in History in 1965 from Texas Western College. Mr. Rutledge served as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, U. S. Army, 1963-1966 where he received the Distinguished Service Medal. He began the practice of law in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 1, 1966.

Mr. Rutledge’s experience in the practice of law reflects a trial practice representing both plaintiff and defendant with an emphasis on business litigation. In addition to this expertise, he also maintains a prominent status in the appellate practice field in both the state and federal courts. He has handled 55 cases in the state appellate system and 20 cases in the federal appellate system.

He is married to Sherry Crittenden Rutledge since 1983 and has four children and six grandchildren.
